affected the race for the white house. governor mitt romney and vice president joe biden each cancled planned weekend appearances in virginia. ron is traveling with mitt romney. >> reporter: all eyes on sandy, including these two presidential campaigns. over the next ten days, expect to see the president and governor romney hit these battleground states hard, including ohio, perhaps the most critical of them all. it could ultimately decide who wins this race. yesterday, governor romney held two events in the buckeye state, including a rousing rally with paul ryan last night in north canton, ohio. the campaign says about 8,000 people showed up for that event, braving some pretty brisk temperatures outside last night. now, he still has some work to do here. the latest cnn poll has the president up 50 to 46, four points. that's about half of what the lead was just a few weeks ago. governor romney has chipped into that lead, but he still has some ways to go. for the president, he just wrapped up a 5,000-plus-mile barn storming tour. he took the day off the trail, spent a lot of time doing
place as well that we'll see vice president biden visiting on monday as well. >> so it also seemed as though the president spent a lot less time talking about romney, and spent a lot more time talking about his accomplishments including ending the war in iraq and going after osama bin laden, and spelling out his plan for the next four years. where is his next stop and is this kind of the new speech that is being unfurled here by the president to spend more time on how he sees the next four years and to remind people of what he has done in the last four? >> you know, he did talk about those things, and i also noticed, fred, that he was talking to women as well. something that we have noticed before, but he spent a considerable amount of time knocking mitt romney and his record as the governor of massachusetts, trying to frame him as someone who raised taxes or fees on the middle class while giving tax cuts to the welty. that's something that was actually new during this speech and really the one thing that really was new that we heard here today in new hampshire. president obama, th
else. he was -- biden actually said we weren't aware of the earlier request for security enhancement. in any administration i worked for it would be all hands on deck if you were fk told that american facility. >> all hands on deck. let's focus on 5:00 p.m. on september 11th. the president is meeting with the vice president and the secretary of defense leon panetta. what would that does it end or does the president need to make a decision at some point about whether to commit or not commit. stew let these folks live or die. >> he has to give a signal to do whatever he can to protect them. i'm not going to guess small tactical decisions where we don't know what the facts were. if the president is saying i don't want to intervene or we have to get libyans explanations which there are other explanations that have been out there, that was a signal that was subordinates not to go in. >> we were reporting that we learned one drone overhead providing high definition video. now we know there were two drones. they had a live feed of what was unfolding at the white house. was it possible the w
his own back channels and the obama white house with by -- vice-president biden. they found that they meet each other as information sources. i believe it was biden, this would not surprise any of you, that was leaking to eric cantor that the speaker was pursuing separate talks with obama during the so-called biden talks of which eric cantor was a part. this may cantor livid. he ultimately walked out of the stocks of mostly because of a the dynamic going on with banner, the of the excuse he gave was that he heard that the democrats to blow this up. as this sounds i'll this to you? >> well, the question i'm going to ask is probably childish. if you walked past the speaker's meaning an open window he would not hesitate to push him. >> actually, they have learned, for one thing, the speaker is a very even tempered man. the less the moment is absolutely right you tend not to be able to get ahead by declaring a mutiny. >> so there is a detente in essence between banner and cantor. >> yes. now, interestingly, working more or less in the middle is the majority whip, kevin mccarthy.
